What is UUID Generator?
A UUID (universally unique identifier) is a 128-bit ID used for database primary keys, file names, request IDs, and more. Both random v4 and time-ordered v7 are supported, generated with your browser's cryptographic random number generator.
How to use
- 1
Choose a version (v4 or v7) and how many to generate.
- 2
Pick a format such as uppercase or no hyphens.
- 3
Press “Regenerate” to refresh the list, then copy all or copy individual IDs.
Use cases
Preparing test data
Generate a batch of UUIDs to use as IDs in mock data or seed files.
Sortable database keys
v7 starts with a timestamp, so IDs sort by creation time — good for index performance.
FAQ
Can UUIDs collide?+
v4 uses 122 random bits, so a collision is practically impossible.
Should I use v4 or v7?+
Use v4 if order doesn't matter, and v7 if you need IDs sorted by creation time.
